My research in the Putnam Lab focuses on the proteins found in C. elegans P granules and P bodies. To better understand the structure and function of these membraneless organelles, I take an in vitro approach. I spend my lab time purifying these proteins, conducting biochemical characterization assays on them, or viewing these reconstituted systems under the microscope.
I started in the lab as a Research Specialist in Spring 2023 and became a Biophysics student in Fall 2024

My work in the Putnam Lab centers around imaging germ granules in C. elegans embryos. A large part of our research involves generating mutants that disrupt or alter the structure of these granules.I’ve been developing new microscopy techniques that grant us higher resolution images so we can better understand what is happening inside the structure of the granule.
